Coloured Porcelain Jar
I just came across this Chinese Porcelain Coloured Jar.
I find it very unique different
from other Chinese oriental pieces.
I do not know what the Origin of
this piece.
I am not here to claim the period
it was made such as Ming or Qing Dynasty as there is no validation nor
certification for this Vintage Jar.
This Vintage Jar carried unusual motifs different from the normal oriental pieces.
I believe this was made by ancient China for Thai market due to the mixture of motive and its decorative patterns.

Shape of this vintage Jar is
called the Chinese Temple Jar – also known as “Guan” Jar
Design of the Jar
There are 4 panels depicting
various scenes
As can be seen from the pictures,
#1 – Monks plucking pumpkins
#2 – Pumpkins plants
#3 – Hanging Fruits and leaves
#4 – Monks reading book seated on
an elephant with a Chinese young girl carrying goods in a backpack holding a stick
guiding the elephant.
All the descriptive panels are carved with embossed floating designs bordered in a golden ring with two of main panels having 4 golden flowers buttons decorating the golden border.
Monks, elephant, pumpkins are not common design of Chinese Oriental ceramics –hard to find some similar pieces in the Chinese antique world.
The panels are divided and decorated with flower– clouds – Chinese traditional bat (prosperity blessings) motives
All the motives are bordered with a consistent fine matt gold in colour to bring out the design and value of the design
The inner top rim of the Jar is glazed with Turquoise Colour where I find it rather unique and different from common Chinese oriental pieces.
This Guan Jar do not have a cover.
The protruding edge together with the well decorated rim do not warrant a cover.

I do not own this vintage Jar but
asked by the collector to sell it.
